“It feels like a new RÜFÜS,” the trio says. With a new record on the horizon and a standout two-year tour at their backs, RÜFÜS DU SOL have entered a new era of their career. Now residing in Los Angeles, RÜFÜS DU SOL have spent the past year finishing their third album, largely influenced by the stark desert landscapes of California and their experiences on the road. The album, which produced such iconic singles as “You Were Right” and “Innerbloom,” notably spawned a momentous two-year tour, including a milestone appearance at Coachella in 2016. Their sophomore follow-up, 2016’s Bloom, subsequently hit #1 as well, transforming them from national heroes into a rising global phenomenon. The Australian three-piece, known formerly to the world as just RÜFÜS, have thus far won the world over with two platinum-certified albums, ATLAS and Bloom, with a much-anticipated third on the way.Ĭomprised of members Tyrone Lindqvist, Jon George and James Hunt, RÜFÜS DU SOL first made their break in 2013, when their debut album, ATLAS, reached #1 in Australia. The subs had great low information and response, especially for a show like RÜFÜS DU SOL which demands clean undistorted sound with powerful bottom-end.RÜFÜS DU SOL have emerged as one of the world’s preeminent live electronic acts. “ It was great to hear the VHD5 system stretch its legs on the RÜFÜS DU SOL gig – for me it really confirmed its standing as the best large format point source system on the planet,” says Davidson.Ĭam Trewin was just as enthusiastic: “ I was very impressed with the power output of the VHD5 system and the even coverage and clarity in the top-end. In conjunction with UK-based production company, Production Value, who was responsible for the European leg of the tour, KV2 supplied a VHD5 system for main left and right, plus 16 x VHD4.21 subwoofers combined with 4 x VHD2.18J subwoofers in a cardioid configuration. Cam was delighted to be able to use one in Prague.” “ Avant Gardner is one of our biggest VHD5 installations to date and sounds amazing. “ RÜFÜS played the Cityfox Odyssey over New Year’s Eve at Avant Gardner this year, and they loved it,” remarks Davidson. The opportunity arises for the band to use KV2’s flagship VHD5 system, and thanks to Trewin’s extremely positive experience with KV2 products at Red Road Immersive and then at the legendary New York club, Avant Gardner, he jumps at the chance. I'm so impressed!” The live set made it to Number 3 on the Apple Spatial Hits playlist and is still up there over a year later.įast forward to August 2022 and RÜFÜS DU SOL are in Prague as part of their European tour. Trewin was extremely impressed with the sound of the KV2 9.1.4 Dolby Atmos system, as was Dale Becker from Becker Mastering in LA, who commented, “ Wow, friend, you do quite the incredible work. Marking the band’s largest headlining shows to date, the first two live performances secured over 50,000 tickets for fans with 25,000 additional tickets added. This announcement comes after selling out their first two shows on Friday, November 12, and Saturday, November, 13 within minutes. The studio is based around 14 x KV2 EX Series speakers and is the first studio in APAC to be certified by Dolby. RUFUS DU SOL announces third show in Los Angeles. He then talked to the band and they decided to remix the live set at Red Road for release on Apple Music.” “ I told him about Red Road Immersive, the Dolby Atmos studio I had built during lockdown. “ Cam had recorded a live set with RÜFÜS DU SOL at The Joshua Tree in the Mojave Desert which had been mixed in Dolby Atmos for the video in Los Angeles,” explains Davidson. RÜFÜS DU SOL’s relationship with KV2 began in earnest last year in early 2021 when KV2’s technical support director for the APAC region, Angus Davidson – himself a highly respected FoH engineer – met Cam Trewin, a Melbourne-based studio and live sound engineer.
